Diversity

A word from George Roberts, Head of UK & Ireland

“In a world now characterised by uncertainty and change, we need new thinking and bold ideas that challenge and grow what we can do for our clients every day. For this reason, we are clear that we need to attract and retain the very best talent, from all backgrounds and of any race, religion and gender.

We are active participants in groups, such as Changing the Face of Property, CREW and Real Estate Balance, seeking to increase diversity across our industry as a whole. We have launched Inspire, our diversity and inclusion programme, which seeks to highlight and drive diversity in many areas. Sponsored by our Executive Committee, Inspire has made great strides forward in launching new initiatives that support gender diversity including a flexible and agile working scheme and a UK-wide mentoring programme, the latter recognising the importance of mentors in progressing and realising career goals.”

We are committed to challenging our working practices, processes and perspectives to provide a culture and environment at Cushman & Wakefield that welcomes, and actively supports and encourages, anyone who has the talent, desire, appetite and ambition to succeed, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity or background.”

Giving Back

Community impact is at the heart of everything we do at Cushman & Wakefield. We are privileged to be able to give back and make a difference to the communities we live and work in.

Central to this is Impact, our social value programme that ensures our people are empowered to make a difference. Community Impact is part of the Cushman & Wakefield DNA.

Our core charitable pillars focus on education & employability, homelessness and the environment.

We are a foundation sponsors of LandAid, the property industry charity supporting young homeless people. Our early careers cohort regularly take part in the annual Sleep Out helping to contribute to the £500,000 LandAid raise each year.

Our “3-2-1” approach ensures that colleagues are supported to provide 3 days of pro bono support to their community; encouraged to take 2 days of working time for volunteering; and we have an annual company charity day Make an Impact Day which highlights our commitment in making a real and tangible impact to local economies and communities.

We partner with social enterprises such as FairShotCafé and Radical Recruit, and through our Match Funding initiative, whereby we match funds raised by colleagues, we have donated c.£260,000 to over 50 charities in the last 5 years.

In 2022 we donated 179 laptops to local authorities, schools and colleges to support digitally excluded young people get online. This year we are hoping to donate over 1,000. We also donated surplus office furniture to schools, and youth groups via our partnership with Businesses 2 Schools.

Over the summer we collected new school uniforms as part of the Gifting Confidence campaign, ensuring that children from disadvantaged backgrounds started the new school terms, looking smart and feeling confident.

From toys to warm coats, gift filled shoe boxes to easter eggs, we donated over 1,000 individual items to our local communities, supporting food banks, homeless shelters and community groups , and have also helped those groups by contributing c.1,600 hours of volunteering.

Our ambition is to deliver the best Social Value programme in our industry, we need our people to show their true zeal, roll up their sleeves and give of their time. Why not join us as We Make an Impact?
